Welcome to my blog of my progress in the Parelli Program!

This is a blog of my journey with my wonderful, amazing, smart, unconfident and then pretends to be--and is-- defaint, Quarter Horse mare, Brizzee, in the Parelli Program! We are official Level 1 Graduates as of spring, of 2009! We are currently playing with On-Line and Freestyle at Levels 2 & 3. I am also beginning to "play" with a friends horse. Sugar is a RBI 5 year old bay Quarter Horse. She is really "calm" and "quiet" and isn't very confident, but she's sensitive and very willing. I thank you for coming with me along my journey of playing with two wonderful horses! :)

Going to an Arena!!

I am so excited!! My mom just told me that are we going to go to an Indoor Arena tomorrow! YEAH! Brizzee never was never in an indoor arena until late in the year, last year. She gets unconfident, etc. The last time I took her there, we were Team Sorting, and she was acting really badly. But tomorrow, it's just going to be my mom and I there. I will finally see how much Savvy I have, playing with Brizzee on the ground in there. If everything goes well, I might try riding her! I'll post some more again tomorrow, and let you know how it goes!

Yesterday's Play Session!!

YEAH!! Yesterday's play day went really well. Not only did my mom take some pictures of Brizzee, but I also got to play with her...finally! I played the porcupine game and lowered her head from the "Delicate Zone" (behind her ears). She used to hate doing that, and I could never touch her head, or her ears, but now I have no problem with it! The improvement in Brizzee is just amazing...it's funny how much fun you can have, when you understand your horse and your horse's horsenality.
Then, I kneeled down and was able to lower her head, by putting a little pressure on the rope! There's some pics of these over on the side...I think. Here's the one with me standing with her, lowering her head down:

Then, I picked up her frong hoof, and gave her a treat between her two front legs, trying to get her to bow. Here's a pic of that too. It didn't out very good though, because you can't see what I'm trying to do, but that's okay. Here it is:

Then, after we did those things, I played the Circling Game #5. At first, she was really LBI. DIdn't want to go, she'd trot a few steps, and then slow back down to a walk, then we changed direction, and that went pretty well. Then my mom wanted to see how we were doing with the Sideways game#6, so we played that as well. That was wonderful! Brizzee went sideways, BOTH WAYS, without aruging with me!! I was so excited/proud of her. Then, we went into the "play pen". My mom put some logs on some old tires, and we "walked" over them. I'm trying to get Brizzee to jump, but she isn't even confident with stepping over things that are off the ground yet, so we're taking it slowly. She did that pretty good, and then we played the Touch It & Figure Eight Patterns. That went really good!

Then I felt like riding her bare back, so mom was playing with her while I ran to get the Natural Hackamore. I found out after I rode her, that when I left, Brizzee bucked, reared up, and kept turning, watching me. I don't know why she did that, but luckily my mom was okay. Of course, my mom didn't even tell me till I was done playing with her. She said she acted that way because her "owner" was leaving. lol. We then took her into the round pen. Where I played some more Circling Game...at first she got all arugumentive/defiant. She leaped into the air, cro-hopped, pulled on the rope...etc. She got a little, RBE. Then she calmed down, and we played again. She was trotting around me in a circle, wasn't pulling, and was being very good. Then I rode her!

That was fun...I haven't ridden her for a long time...especially bareback. I didn't ride very long though. I just rode long enough to where I could bend her to a stop, without circling a million times, and when I found my Blance Point!!!

Then we played at LIBERTY! Brizzee has been lounged in the round pen a lot, so at first she was just cantering in mindless circles. She was really RBE/RBI/LBE, and wasn't listening to me. Finally, I flicked my carrot stick in front of her, hoping that she'd notice me and stop, but instead she turned around, without changing gait, and ran around the other way. I finally got her to stop and calm down. She just stood there for a minute, and then licked her lips, coming up to me. I gave her a treat, and then played some Friendly Game. She then walked away, turning her butt to me. I started playing the Catching Game. She leaped into the air, ran around, turned to me, and then ran a little bit more. She was playing! So we played for a while, then I sat down.

Once again, we played the Circling Game!! Oh, that was so great. We were at Liberty, and I was sitting on the ground. I wasn't sitting right in the middle of the round pen. Brizzee would trot, then canter, then trot again etc. She cut across some of the round pen, to make a perfect circle around me. THat was a great feeling. I then just barely glanced over my shoulder and glared at Zone 3/4. That was all it took before she stopped, and came right up to me!! She sniffed my shoulder, and then sniffed all over me. I slowly stood up, threw the Savvy String over her back, and decided that was a good place to end. As I walked towards my mom, Brizzee FOLLOWED ME!!

When I first got her, she would litterally turn away from me, and didn't want ANYTHING to do with me. So for her to come to me, and follow me at LIBERTY (without a halter or lead rope), was really great...and a great feeling as well! As I said, there's nothing better then this NATURAL Program!!

Today- -

Hello! Wow, talk about a wake up call. My sister called me, then my dad called me, and then I got pounced on by a little white Bichon Frise`. I haven't had that much of a wake up call for a long time. laugh out loud. Well, I added more pics to my blog yesterday, and stuff. I am going outside today and taking more pics of Brizzee. The ones I took of her the other day didn't turn out so good, so I'm going to try again.

My dad might come out today, and watch me play with her! That, I am excited about. He bought Brizzee for me in 2006, and watched me ride her once (at a Team Sorting Competition, when she was acting up. But, I still won first out of beginners, and third out of...fifty some teams I think!), and watched me play with her once. So I'm hoping he'll watch me play with her today.

I am so excited to play the patterns with her again. It's supposed to be warm (finally) today, with a slight breeze. I'm hoping to play with her all day, maybe finish the Level 1 patterns, and then maybe do some Freestyle Patterns. And then the next time I play with her, we can start on Level 2 Online!!

Check back later, as I'll post and let you know how it goes with her today!

Oh, by the way, this is my mom's Mustang, Simmer-On. He's all over the Horsenality Chart, so we really don't know what he is. He's very smart, and my mom is having a challenge playing with him. He is pretty though huh? Other then being really fat, that is. lol

Wow!

Yeah! I figured out how to post pics on here! I don't have any pics of my horse and I yet on this camera, but as soon as I do I'll post. There's a whole bunch of "mountain" pics on the side, if you want to check them out.
Once again, I wanted to play with my horse today, but didn't get the chance. We had to babysit my nephew today... Unfurtunately my mom had to do things outside, and he wouldn't fall asleep, so I didn't get to play with Brizzee :-( There's always tomorrow. Course, that's what I've been telling myself for about a week now. lol. I "changed" everything around in my blog again, and will probably do that often. hehehe. I arrange my room often too. lol. I hope you enjoy my "some what new" blog.

My "Animal Family"!

Now that I told you about my horse, it's time to tell you about "my family". We have five horses here, two Quarter Horses, Brizzee & Ute, a Mustang, Simmer-On, an Arabian, Storm, and a tattoed ex-racehorse, Thoroughbred, Maple. Brizzee is my horse, the Mustang is my mom's horse, Storm is my Uncle's horse, and Maple (which is ATLEAST 38) is my sister's horse. And the other Quarter Horse, Ute is our friends horse. So, there are five horses here, each with their own horsenality:

Brizzee is a Left Brain Introver,
Ute is...oh I'd say he's a Left Brain Extrovert/Introvert. He's really "quizzical", asks questions, and is very mouthy. I'd love to play with him in my free time, but our friend is "against" Parelli, so I can't...darn!
Simmer-On is all over the charts! He's "quad-polar". He reminds me of Casper.
Storm is mainly a Right Brain Extrovert/Left Brain Extrovert. She has to move her feet, and goes "AWW" every second. haha.
Maple is a Right Brain Introvert. She is really sweet. My mom rescued her at the horse sell a few years ago, and gave her to my sister. My sister is now married, and doesn't live where she can have horses, so Maple is with us.

Well, that's the horses, now comes the rest of the "family".
We have four calves, which I am going to start doing Parelli with. That'll be fun/interesting!
;-)
I have a German Shepherd Cross, Kiah Dawg. She's a sweety. My dog, Kody, died in 2006, as well as our Black Lab cross, Festuz. After they died, we bought Kiah. Kiah is so sweet, gentle, and she's just "lovable". Course, she sheds really bad. haha.

Then my mom has a Bichon Frise`, Buddy. He's...well I'll just say it, CRAZY!! haha. He's only a few months old, and his teeth are sharp!

That's it! I hope to live on a HUGE RANCH when I grow up, and then I can have a lot of horses, all different ages and breeds, and do everything naturally. I love animals, horses, and camping!

Well, that's it for tonight,

Figure Eight Session!

I played with Brizzee about a week ago. We played all Seven Games, including the Sideways Game, but she became unconfident and stubborn, so we went to something else. I got the Patterns about a week or two ago, so we started playing the patterns. We started playing Touch-It, and Brizzee didn't like that game. She wouldn't even try to put her nose on things, so we skipped and went to Figure Eight. That went really well! It was her first time doing that Pattern, so I was proud of her efforts. She was a little unconfident, but did it anyways. By the time we finished, she was really confident and licking her lips. We tried the Touch It Pattern again, and she still didn't like it. I was going to ride her, but the wind came up, and it was close to feeding time anyways, so I decided to call it a day.

I love playing with Brizzee using this program. When I first got her last year, she would literally, turn her back on me. She wanted absolutely nothing to do with me. She bullied me, and she even made me mad, so I'd stop playing with her, and she got away with it. She argues with herself a lot, and didn't want to trust me, period. But after we started this Program, and started playing, there is a major difference in us both. I'm more confident, she's more confident, and we're both having fun! The other day I heard her nicker at me!! I can sit down in front of her, and she plays the Circling Game#5 with me, and I can also play a few games with her at Liberty! I can't wait till I finish the Level 1 Online Patterns, because then I can go to Level 2, where the fun really begins!!

I'd post pictures, but we can't hook our camera up to the computer. So, I'll just have to write for now! As I said in my earlier post, I'm just learning about all this stuff on the blog!

Our Journey

I started my Journey with Brizzee this year. Brizzee is a Left Brain Introvert. I got Brizzee, my paint Quarter Horse Mare, in the Spring of 2007, but we didn't "really" start playing until this year. We have been having a lot of fun, and I am trying to learn how to be everything I can be for her. I want to understand her, know her, and be there for her. I want to become her Partner, I want to be part horse! I am just getting started with this Blog thing, so I'll post more later about our journey. So far we have played all Seven Games on the ground, and we are starting the Patterns! I'll post more later,
